Sometimes when there is no other alternative, court-ordered alcololism treatment is your only option. To get into that program, a person has to be arrested and go to court, and so many families just don't want to risk losing the love and affection of their family member.
Sometimes families turn in a loved one. Have you spoken to a drug treatment professional and gotten all of the facts concerning treatment?
An intervention might help force the treatment issue. Al-Anon is a good place to start, to get support for yourself before you take action on any possible strategy.
Going to court is risky because you don't know what kind of judge you'rde going to get, and there is no guarantee your loved one can get into an alcolol treatment program once they are incarcerated.
In some facilities there is a waiting list, or nothing at all. See if you can force the issue first.
Call Al-Anon or a local alcohol treatment center or your personal doctor first.
