Stop Drinking Alcohol?

by Mike

I really want to stop drinking alcohol, but I can't. I've been drinking for as long as I can remember. Everyone in my family drinks at all social occasions.

I know that it's not good for me and my wife has threatened to divorce me if I don't quit.

Every time I try to quit I always start drinking again. I go for a week or two without drinking but then I start again. I even tried taking that stuff that makes you sick if you drink but I stopped taking it and starting drinking again.

Any ideas on how I can stop drinking or at least cut down?

Thanks

Don't Go Alone
by: Ned Wicker

People think you can just stop drinking. People also think that with enough will power you can pull yourself out of Alcoholism.

People who think this way have no clue about the disease, or how it is treated.

For starters, don't try to do this on your own. Consult with your doctor and look into treatment facilities for a program that will work for you.

Meanwhile, check out a local AA meeting and consider being a member of the recovery community. There you will get support and understanding from people who have walked on your path and will give you unconditional support, as long as you want to work the program.

Your wife also needs treatment and groups like Al-Anon are perfectly suited to provide education and support for family members.

So, it's not just a matter of you doing something on your own. Get the help you need.
